Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

The short version: TRIQQ stores what the game needs — your display name, the photos and answers you create, and how you play. It runs on our own server in the EU. We use no advertising, no third-party trackers and no third-party analytics, and we do not sell personal information.

1. Who we are

TRIQQ is a social photo guessing game operated by Effi Tech ApS, Denmark (CVR 46044053). People create photo challenges, share them, and try to solve challenges made by friends and other players.

Effi Tech ApS is the data controller for TRIQQ. Website: https://triqq.app

2. Information we collect

You can play, create and share TRIQQs as a guest. A permanent profile is optional.

Information you provide

  • your display name
  • photos you take or choose when creating a TRIQQ
  • the answers, alternative answers and hints you write
  • guesses you submit
  • your email address, only if you choose to create a profile
  • if you choose Sign in with Apple: an identifier Apple creates for TRIQQ, the email address Apple shares with us (which can be an Apple “Hide My Email” relay address), and, the first time only, the first name you choose to share
  • reports you send about a TRIQQ, and anything you write to us when contacting support

Game and activity information

  • TRIQQs you create and play, levels reached, hints used and scores
  • whether and how a TRIQQ was shared (for example “share sheet” or “copy link” — not who you sent it to)
  • which TRIQQ led you to create another one, so challenges and replies stay connected
  • rewards (friendly IOUs between players) and whether they were settled
  • timestamps for the above

Technical information

  • An anonymous identifier. The first time you use TRIQQ, your browser (or the TRIQQ app, in your device’s keychain) creates a random ID. It is how TRIQQ recognises you without an account, so treat it like a key: anyone with access to your browser profile is “you” in TRIQQ. If you sign in with Apple on several devices, we link their IDs so you see one history.
  • your browser’s user-agent string (browser, operating system and device type)
  • whether a link was opened in a regular browser or inside another app’s browser (for example Messenger), and the referring page if your browser sends one
  • the client you use (web, or the TRIQQ app and its version)
  • in the TRIQQ app, if you allow notifications: a push token for your device, so we can tell you when a friend plays your TRIQQ
  • IP address. Our web server keeps standard access logs, including IP addresses, for 14 days for security and troubleshooting. IP addresses are also used briefly in memory to limit abuse. We do not store your IP address in your game data and we do not use it to locate you.

We do not collect your contacts, your precise location, or advertising identifiers.

3. Photos

Photos are the core of TRIQQ. When you create a TRIQQ, your photo is resized and compressed on your device and then uploaded so others can play it. We create obscured versions for the game, and keep the original so it can be revealed when a player finishes.

  • The original photo is not publicly listed. It is shown to players when they finish the challenge (or immediately, if you chose “No blur”).
  • Link previews in messaging apps show a heavily obscured version, never the original.
  • We remove photo metadata. Location (GPS), device and capture-time information embedded in the file is stripped before the photo is stored or shown to anyone.
  • You can delete a TRIQQ you created at any time from its page. The photo files are then deleted, not just hidden.

Do not upload photos you do not have the right to use, or photos that unlawfully violate someone else’s privacy.

4. Camera and photo library

On the web, your browser asks for access when you choose “Take photo” or “Choose photo”; TRIQQ only receives the one photo you pick. A future TRIQQ app will request camera or photo-library access only at the moment you use that feature.

5. Cookies and storage on your device

TRIQQ stores a small amount of information in your browser. All of it is first-party and needed for the game to work:

WhatWhyHow long
Your anonymous ID (cookie + local storage)Recognise you without an account: your plays, scores and TRIQQsUp to 1 year (some browsers shorten this)
Your display name (cookie + local storage)So you are not asked again on this deviceUp to 1 year
Two small preferences (local storage)Remember that you dismissed the “create a profile” suggestionUntil you clear your browser data

We do not use advertising or third-party cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Clearing your browser data removes these — and, if you play as a guest, your access to your history on that device.

6. How we use information

  • to run the game: show challenges, check guesses, calculate scores, reveal images and hints
  • to show creators who played their TRIQQ and how they did
  • to keep your history, rewards and your private leaderboard
  • to prevent abuse, handle reports and keep the service secure
  • to understand how TRIQQ is used and improve it
  • to answer support requests and comply with legal obligations

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

7. Analytics

We measure how the game is used — challenges opened, started and completed, solve rates, hints used, challenges created and shared, and whether playing a TRIQQ leads someone to create one. These statistics are recorded by our own system, linked to your anonymous ID, and stay on our server. No third-party analytics service is involved.

8. What other players can see

TRIQQ is built around sharing. Anyone who has a TRIQQ link can open and play it.

  • People who receive your TRIQQ see your display name (“Jesper sent you a TRIQQ”).
  • The creator of a TRIQQ sees the display name, level and score of everyone who played it — and the guesses they typed, the levels they skipped and the hints they took. That is part of the fun, so only type what you are happy for them to read.
  • In a duel (a run of challenges back and forth between two people), both see the rounds and the running score.
  • People with a profile see a leaderboard limited to players they share TRIQQs with.
  • You can block another player; you then stop seeing each other’s TRIQQs and activity.

Your email address is never shown to other players. Choose a display name you are comfortable with others seeing.

9. Service providers

TRIQQ runs on infrastructure we operate ourselves. We use very few providers:

ProviderPurposeLocation
Hetzner Online GmbHServer hosting: the application, database, photos and backupsFinland (EU)
Namecheap, Inc.Domain name and DNS; forwarding of email you send to our @triqq.app addressesUSA
Apple Inc.Sign in with Apple, if you choose it; delivering push notifications in the TRIQQ app, if you allow themUSA
Google (Google Workspace)Our email account, which sends us an alert when a TRIQQ is reported (its code and the reason only)EU / USA

Apple only receives what those features need: when you sign in, Apple confirms who you are to us; for a notification, we send Apple your device’s push token and the short message to show. We use no third-party analytics, advertising or error-monitoring services, and we never email players. When a TRIQQ is reported, we receive an email alert containing only its code and the report reason.

When you share a TRIQQ through another app (for example WhatsApp or Messenger), that app handles your message under its own privacy policy.

10. International data transfers

Your game data, photos and backups are stored in the EU. If you email us, your message passes through our email forwarding provider in the USA; Sign in with Apple and push notifications involve Apple in the USA. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

11. Legal basis

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on:

  • performing the service you ask for — running the game, storing what you create, showing results
  • our legitimate interests — keeping TRIQQ secure, preventing abuse, and understanding and improving the product
  • your consent, where required — which you can withdraw at any time
  • legal obligations, where they apply

12. How long we keep information

  • Game data, photos and profiles: until you delete them or ask us to, or until they are no longer needed to run TRIQQ.
  • A TRIQQ you delete: its photos are deleted immediately.
  • When you delete your data: everything personal is deleted immediately. An empty, anonymous record of each TRIQQ you created remains so that people who played it keep their own scores.
  • If you signed in with Apple: deleting your data also removes the link to your Apple ID. You can additionally stop using Sign in with Apple for TRIQQ in your Apple ID settings.
  • Push tokens: until you turn notifications off, sign out, delete the app’s data, or delete your account.
  • Web server logs (including IP addresses): 14 days.
  • Backups: 14 days, after which deleted data is gone from them too.

Limited information may be kept longer where required by law or reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention or legal claims. See Delete your account and data.

13. Your rights

If the GDPR applies to you, you have the right to:

  • access your personal data and receive a copy of it
  • have inaccurate information corrected (you can change your display name yourself at any time)
  • have your personal data deleted — you can do this yourself, instantly, at triqq.app/delete-account
  • restrict or object to certain processing
  • data portability
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

Contact us at privacy@triqq.app to use these rights. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Denmark this is Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.dk).

14. Children

TRIQQ is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has used TRIQQ, contact us at privacy@triqq.app.

15. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information: encrypted connections, access controls, limits on automated abuse, and answers and original photos that are only released by the server when the game allows it. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

16. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as TRIQQ develops, change the date at the top, and give additional notice of material changes where appropriate.
